Belter?
« on: November 26, 2010, 08:01:43 AM »

Willis Henry, the nations best house for Shaker stuff, is having his annual Thanksgiving auction of everything it seems but shaker, lol. Included are 2 pieces which claim to be Belter, a chair & setee. I dont know if it is or isnt but sometimes one can pick up a good buy from a house that normally carries a totally different style of furniture. I did that earlier this year when i won a really fine shaker piece at Neal Auction, a house that usually handles Victorian stuff.

Well Geez, the estimate is really low, maybe i should have kept quiet and bid on these 2 pieces myself however, i am lusting after this box that comes up today at 2 p.m. BTW, that shaker cane seat chair i picked up at Neal's earlier this year went through willis henry back in the 80's, i got it for a song at neals victorian sale earlier this year.

Meanwhile, I was crushed on that 1716 Ruth Allen box today, it went for $8400, over 4 times it's high estimate.
