The image is very hard to make out, but the sitter appears to have a full beard and moustache. Prince Albert (consort of Queen Victoria) wore a moustache and sideburns.

sorry its the way its scanned he does not have a full beard just a big tash and big side burns ..i know nothing about uniforms so would prince albert wear such a uniform as the sitter is wearing we are just intrigued to find out who the sitter/photo is of many thanks

I've never seen a portrait of Albert in a uniform like the one in your photograph.
