Has anyone seen a secretary like this one?

My mom inherited this mahogany secretary from her mother.  I was trying to find something comparable online as she would like to sell it and has little to go on as to price.  We did have an antique appraiser look at it recently.  He said he had not seen a similar secretary and that his best guess was that someone had it custom made.   Any opinions, help, and advice would be greatly appreciated.

My guess is that it is from the late 1910s or early 1920s--a little lingering arts and crafts (in the base), and while it looks home-made, I can't believe it was custom made unless as a hobby piece for a family member (which is possible). Think 1920s houses, and it fits right in. Fascinating piece!

do you know for certain that it is American ? it looks continental to me, probably Northern european, German- or scandinavian-type.  1910-1925 timeframe

Hi..nice piece. I agree with the 1910 time frame. It surely has an Arts and Crafts flavor to it with a touch of Gothic revival to the top. Looks like walnut wood..would assume American made possibly English.

Thank you for all the information.  The appraiser said it was mahogany, probably American made from around 1910.  The thought never crossed my mind that someone could have made it at home. 

It is a really nice antique but my mom is moving to a smaller house so she needs to downsize some of her furniture.  She also started fostering puppies and they really go crazy for the wooden legs so she has to keep a puppy gate around it now.  Does anyone have an idea of what she should price it at if she decides to sell it?
