aesthetic bronze furniture plaque
« on: April 20, 2011, 01:55:53 AM »

Hello---

Has anyone seen this plaque before on a piece of Victorian furniture?
I recently purchased it on eBay. I have a fondness for Victorian
bronze hardware and also for furniture pieces and parts. When I saw
this I figured I had to buy it. The design could easily be attributed
to either Nashua hardware or Sargent & company, as it contains
very similar elements seen in other hardware pieces they produced,
but there is no direct match that I have ever seen on a piece of
door hardware.

The medallion measures 4 inches in diameter and is most certainly original
to the walnut wood backing. It is not marked on the reverse. The wooden
back appears to have been affixed to another surface on (1) side.
It is approximately 1/2" thick X 4.5" square.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hello-

I posted this question back in April, 2011 and had
no replies. Recently, I was in Buffalo New York and
did some hunting and found the answer. This plaque
was on the following piece of furniture. Still do not
know the manufacturer, but perhaps someday.....
