Hey folks. I bought this neat table a few years ago and the restoration guy who cleaned it up for me said that this is a treaty table. There is hand-painted grain on the table top and you can see it is very spindly.
M theory is that this table had a drawer in the middle at some point and it most likely was a sewing table or end table.
Any ideas? Look familiar to anyone?
Thanks,
John

I've never seen a table like yours referred to as a Treaty Table - but with the stretcher along the base it very vaguely resembles the overall shape of the Treaty Table from the White House made by Pottier & Stymus in 1869 - used for the signing of several treaties including the treaty that ended the Spanish American War in 1898. Presently used as a desk in the presidents study. http://www.whitehousemuseum.org/furnishings/treaty-table.htm
