Not so much an attribution stretch as a lazy mis-attribution, this "Pair American Renaissance Gilt Incised Pedestals with Bronze Medallions and Trim. Attr. Herter Brothers, New York. Circa 1870" are actually Kimbel and Cabus #123 (the pedestal in the center of the photograph). While they are probably not as desirable as the #125 pedestal in the same photograph (a pair of which sold at Doyles for $21,850 in 2001; a single example went for $4250 in 2002, also at Doyles), a matched pair of pedestals is always a nice find.

Thanks, but I'm just an information conduit! The credit is really owed to my husband, who has an amazing photographic memory for "all things late 19th century design"... he happened to glance over my shoulder while I was viewing the auction page, and said "K&C. Look it up in 'the catalog'".
