another neighbor of mine. My secret place has been exposed. Stuart is a fine man to deal with.I've never missed a spring or fall select auction.I've purchased many of items from them, usually art. Should anyone need a set of eyes on a item , I'm more then happy to as well as Cowans
I really didn't mean to blow the lid off of your secret haunts. I have bought some pieces at auction in Ohio because they tend to have the nicest stuff within my greater geographic range. It does surprise me that there are so many good auction houses in Cinci. I got a bargain or two at Fusco (Willoughby, Ohio) . . . in part, I think, because they focus primarily on sports memorabilia, but they had a few Victorian pieces at one auction, including a music cabinet that they mis-identified as a "baker's rack" of all things.
I suppose that I could post my secret Wisconsin places...of course, they just aren't as good as those that you have in Ohio. I'm jealous!

I just moved to Dayton, so thanks for the tip!
I'm liking the dresser that will be in this sale. Full catalog here.
Hello everyone
I attended the auction last night. The dresser you mention Rare was very nice I arrived late so I didn't see what it went for. Very small crowd and most lots were shy of low estimate.I left with a painting by J.F. Brown and I promised myself if I didn't get the painting I would leave with the throne chair lot #359. Awesome chair in my opinion and it sold for 550. It would look great in a black horsehair. John

The dresser at the Stuart Holman Auction - (mentioned by Rare Victorian & jcapal) is essentially identical except for a slight difference in the brasses & crest (I think the brasses have been changed and the crest was damaged and a burled button applied which does not fit the dressers details) - even the marble top is the same color as a listing now on ebay by Antiquariantraders - the listing states the 2 pc. set is is stamped G. (Gustave) Herter. The 2 pc. - Bed & Dresser have a BIN @ 140K. They have some nice stuff for sure, and are not afraid to ask for the moon for it (they're in Beverly Hills Ca. though so their reality is different from the rest of the worlds reality - I think they use ebay more for advertising than to sell stuff w/ the prices they ask). Without a mention of Herter on the dresser @ Holmans - it probably went for a very small fraction of what it should/ could have brought.
