Can anybody help me to identify this secretary and its value? I bought it in 1977 in Chicago. I was told it came out of a mansion in Madison, WI and dates to the 1850s. I am moving and concerned about damage. I can send additional pictures if it helps. Thanks, Brad

I might be able to tell a bit more about the style if I could see it with the drop-front closed, but these desk/bookcase combinations typically retail for somewhere between $1,500 and $3,000 at the Harp Gallery (www.harpgallery.com) in Appleton, WI.  They have a particularly nice Eastlake one for $1,875 here -->  http://www.harpgallery.com/showroom/item5567.html .  Also a nice version for $1,450 here --> http://www.harpgallery.com/showroom/item5574.html .  Just look under their "Desks & Office" category.
