Change of plans. Need to stay in the office today so can't make the journey.
I don't mean to echo the movie "Office Space" too much, but, "What would you say you do here?" :D . I don't think that you have given your loyal readers any clues as to what your day job is.

I don't think any of us know what each other does for their day job. I would be interested in hearing the same from others.
I recently wrote this bio for a new site that I'm going to launch with some friends in the coming months. It should be very exciting and Rare Victorian readers will be the first to know when it's out there. It has nothing to do with Victorian stuff and is more like social networking. Yes, my nights and weekends are busy.
I'll reuse the bio here to answer your question:
John has spent the majority of his life around computers and software, accidentally falling into a pattern of putting arcane programming languages to use in the corporate world; first as a developer in a small healthcare-related ISV, next as co-founder of an ASP, and then for a few years as a software consultant for Forte' Software before they were acquired by Sun Microsystems. John grew weary of learning nascent programming languages every 5 years to replace those that were well-established and has spent the last 7 years in professional services management. In his spare time, John will either be found fishing on the Chesapeake Bay or researching 19th century cabinetmakers.
Currently I manage a team of project managers that manage software implementations.

james is in the construction business and collects early american furniture as a hobby. i started my career in washington d.c. where i was born but got tired of the rat race there and presently live in charlotte nc.
Hello, my name is Jason, and it has been 105 days since my last antique furniture purchase. I got hooked on antiques at a very young age, but I didn't really consider it a "problem" until I got a job and an old house. I'm trying to stay "clean" right now what with a 9-month-old son, loving wife, and major upcoming house restoration projects, but it is hard to avoid the temptation of a nice bookcase or an ?tag?re. I try to fight the temptation by daydreaming about Bradbury & Bradbury or Charles Rupert wallpaper designs, but that next fix of 19th-century walnut & marble is always in the back of my mind.
In all seriousness, I'm a naval architect...a civilian who designs ships. I suspect that my web page, out of date as it is, has as much information on me as anybody here would care to read if they fished around a bit (start with the 'Profile' section here). Outside of work I'm pursuing a MBA and I'm hoping that work on my new tower (for the house -- it is much more accurate a reproduction than the current tower) begins here in another month or so. After that, a new roof on the front half of the house, and then we can work on the remainder of the porch parts and all of the gingerbread at the gables.
