That front bottom brace looks like the mark of a Hunzinger design. They should look for a stamp.
I've lightened the image for better viewing below.

I agree...looks a lot like a Hunzinger frame.

Did anyone already ask about a stamp? If it were a Hunzinger, what would it be worth?
I certainly didn't ask about a stamp.
You know...something just doesn't look quite right about this chair. I don't know if it was that it perhaps didn't originally have a cane back & seat or if some sort of marriage took place between a Hunzinger frame (legs & braces) and a cheap-ish side chair / dining chair. Then again, maybe it is 100% correct and even a Hunzinger to boot. I'm not an expert on Hunzingers and I don't own any. Seems that most of them were stamped though...and I tend to associate their stamp with the year 1869, but I don't really have a reason for that except that I think I remember once seeing their stamp included that year on a folding chair.
Regardless, presuming that it is a stamped Hunzinger and all correct (and needing new cane), I'd be surprised to see it go over $250 on ebay. It just isn't a particularly fancy chair if it is a Hunzinger. Again, I'm not an expert...just a hunch.

True. The seat is even broken and repaired.

Just for the record, here is his answer:
no there is no makers mark, all I know is that it is called a ship wheel east lake rocker. they are in your antique price guides. thank you for your question
Hmmm.

I think that makes it about a $25 chair, tops.
There is an auction house in Milwaukee (Shrager Auction Galleries) that has four more-or-less matching cane dining room chairs...two are just fine, but two others need new cane. They weren't able to get the $25 opening bid for the lot back in September...I see that the new opening bid is $10 for December. Granted, these aren't rockers, but no-name cane chairs seem to be hard to move at auction.
