Does anyone have an idea about the value of a set of 1869 stamped Hunzinger chairs? They are in original very good condition and were my grandparents. This is a link to an almost identical chair in a museum. Ours are in better condition. They have been in my mothers attic for…

The velvet is slightly worn, but that is all.

Hi Lyndall - It is difficult to put a price on these at the moment as Hunzinger furniture seems to have been hit particularly hard by the recession.  The only Hunzinger pieces I've seen that are holding their value are the more elaborate Neo-Grec chairs and settees.  If the chairs in question have the original fabric and are in good shape, my opinion is they would go for somewhere between $400 and $1000 at auction (each).  That said, I've seen similar rockers (reupholstered, but in good shape) go for as little as $125 within the last two months.  Chairs seem to bring a bit more, $150-$300 depending on upholstery and condition. I'm sure others will chime in if my estimates are off.

Do you have the means to post pictures?  I am a fan of Hunzinger and would love to see them.
I would have a very hard time letting these go, especially if they were from a family member. They are gorgeous!
