It is very similar to the Belter sofa illustrated in "19th Century America - Furniture and Other Decorative Arts" plate 136.  The sofa is located near Brantford Ontario which about an hour drive north of Buffalo, which was the terminus of the Erie Canal.  They are asking $550 CAN.  That's right $550 not $5500. Could this sofa be by Belter?

It looks like Meeks "Stanton Hall" pattern to me.
Nice find!  I assume you've already picked it up?  Looks to be in good shape but awful upholstery.  Here's a link to a decent photo of a Stanton Hall Settee with different arms.
Yep, Meeks "Stanton Hall", though it seems the crest differs from most Stanton Hall settees.  I've purchased this after checking with Canadian Maple that he wasn't going to buy it.  I am working delivery at the moment.  The Canadian border is a new one for me and it appears I need a Customs Broker.  Sounds like the Canadian Mafia to me ;-)
Just tell them it was "on loan" to Canada for the last ~150 years.  ;)
