Flomaton just posted a link to Karpen Brothers Furniture - under Victorian Furniture, Is this chair Horner? - which opens to a page about a book on Karpen Furniture: Karpen Bros. Furniture: Nine Brothers from Prussia to American Style 1880-1952 - which is forthcoming and I believe not yet avaialable (I did a search for it on Amazon, Google, and Ebay and came up w/ nothing) there are also interesting links to Karpen research, 1880-1952...
If you explore the other pages on the site, there is a message board that will answer questions about Karpen Furniture (does not offer values/ appraisals though). It is run by Emily C. Rose - a granddaughter to Sam Karpen, one of the 9 Karpen Brothers. One thing I learned reading the Q & A is that all Karpen Bros. Furniture was labeled w/ a tag, the tag is very useful in dating the piece. If it does not have the tags (or even tag tack holes - unless filled in), it is not Karpen. All Karpen pieces had tags.
