Strange combination of Victorian, A&C, maybe Art Deco styles?  I bought these at auction in MA 18 years ago, looks to be original finish, hardware inside wardrobe (A&C style) may be original but exterior hardware had been replaced.  An idea of age/style, what type of knobs/pulls originally may have been used (I hate these and want to replace them) would be appreciated.

Quartersawn oak (hand?) carved with roses, marble tops are Victorian, but ebonized feet, mirror framing seems to be Art Deco influence.  Straight lines at tops of mirror, top of wardrobe, and head-and footboards look more A&C.  3 hand-cut dovetails per drawer.

Ugh, my pictures wouldn't post - I did HTML code from Photobucket.  Well, here's a link to another forum with pictures.

Really a perplexing mix of cabinetmaking on this.  Machine-made dovetails were prevalent at the time of this set's making, yet it wasn't done.  Yes, I see the Deco angular influences and the quartersawn-wood common in A&C.  Marble can be deco period as well as Victorian era.

Mystery to me...
Someone on A&C forum suggested European manufacture, said they liked dark finishes and did handcut dovetails much longer.  Funny, a friend (who was a land surveyor, not antique dealer) who had lived in Germany for a while told me when I first bought them that they looked like 1920's Belgian-made.  Bought them at auction in MA about 18 years ago.
