Thank you,

Jason

I was looking through some old auction catalogs and saw a credenza nearly identical to the one listed in (also listed as by Alexander Roux) a catalog from Great Gatsby's of Atlanta Ga. May19-21st 2006 estimate of 8 - 13k. Same shape, & details w/ ebonized mouldings. The only differences were: the drawer pulls were a T/ drop pull rather than a bail pull, the plaques were same size & shape w/ same ebonized molding framing them, but a different motif, and the small attached box on top was absent.

Great Gatsby's went out of business last year I believe (but I just checked and their website is still up & showing inventory), they always had some very impressive inventory, both American & Continental. However, there is still Red Baron's Antiques/ auctions in Atlanta ( http://www.redbaronsantiques.com/ )same high end quality items.    woodwright
I bet they did a "Sevres on it = Roux" attribution.  Roux did "blocky" credenzas and that probably was the clincher.  Nice credenza and I'd be happy to have it;  just would take the Roux attribution tentatively.
I live in the Atlanta area and the Great Gatsby auction house is indeed shut down and out of business :(-(land sold I believe for a high rise condo and shopping development)--I attended their liquidation auctions (4 days of straight selling at about 10 hours per day) a year or so ago.  You are right, they did carry some really nice things...Charles.
