Ok, so I pick trash. But once in a while, it yields some interesting pieces. I am wondering if this is reproduction? Makes me think so, because no casters. Although the feet are solid carving, no pieces and glue, so wondering...should I throw this back to the gutter or…

If anyone can date ID wood and educate my trash picking eye, I would appreciate it!

IMHO, it looks to me to be an early to mid 20th century window seat designed to reflect early 19th century neo-classical design.  I think it could be a nice piece if you get it reupholstered.

I'll second that impression.

Sprung upholstery (if original) would be mid-19th century or later, and the carving looks more like early 20th Empire Revival than period Empire.... it is what the dealers around here would call a "good decorator piece."
Looks to me like an empire sofa with the back torn off.  Of course, if both the front & back have carvings (which I suspect to be the case), then I'd say that it is an odd sort of bench made in the 20th century.  I agree--the carvings don't look quite typical of early 19th-century examples, but I'm not always right about that sort of thing.  Everything does look to be in good shape though...I'd see if I couldn't get it re-upholstered on the cheap.

OK, thanks everyone, I will proceed with upholstery. I already have 10 yards of a fabric I have slated for it. It of course had a long cushion, could be daybed? seems very low to ground for bench.
I believe that form to be a window seat, back missing so as not to obstruct the window.  More recent one here.
