Just a semi-recent auction purchase! (I recently had it re-upholstered too... the fabric came from fabriccarolina.com) I'm guessing it was made by the Jelliff Co. of Newark, NJ. The chair was just advertised incorrectly as a "Victorian hall chair" by the auction company!
Thank you!
Jelliff?

Reminds me of a chair that I own that I cautiously attribute to Jelliff (photos attached) which has identical carved men to those on a chair made for Jelliff's daughter - though we know these carved busts were not necessarily unique to a single maker.
I have nothing in any catalogs by his contemporaries (those that I have) that says it is theirs (Schrenkeisen, Hamburger) but I have nothing in any books that guarantees yours, or mine for that matter, are Jelliff.
The "known Jelliffs" have different legs, drop finials and even the carved female figures have different details than yours. I wouldn't rule it out that yours is Jelliff, but can't be 100% sure.
