hello, wondered if anyone might have an idea of a maker on this monumental bed and matching dresser, i was thinking it is greek revival in style and possible thomas brooks but can't find any definitive makers mark. birdseye maple veneer, build quality is stellar, very cool cast iron hook attaches side rails to head and footboard which is tightened by a tapered peg might give someone a clue as i haven't seen this type of mechanism previously. any input appreciated, don't need appraisal as it won't be leaving my house (at least prior to my death) but really curious as i get more into victorian era furniture and its makers.

PEG stands for P.E. Guerin, a prominent New York maker of hardware that is making it still today.
thanks, any info is helpful

I think the Guerin hardware pegs it as NYC--but beyond it being neo-grec (which is sort of Greek Revival, but not the first one, which is Empire, and is 1830s) it is hard to say who could have made it. It is nice and flashy, and would have been the kind of thing firms like Brooks would have made for all the chocolate-brown brownstones going up in NY and Brooklyn during the 1870s. It is amazing that the half-tester survived.
