Nice table. Rosewood w/ male & female busts carved into the legs. (Large - 59" wide) - (2) drawers. There is also presentation plaque on it dated 1861. Big price ($57,500). More pics @ the listing. http://tinyurl.com/yzscfr3

Irrefutable what it is due to the plaque.  I could swear I've seen this table floating around somewhere before.

It appears that tables of this caliber have sold for 30-60k over the years;  on the lower end of the range more recently.

The condition report states that the carved basket that is a later embellishment.
That would be a tidy little profit - $40k + in a little over a month. Who wouldn't be happy with that? He'll probably have it for a while at least until he becomes a bit more realistic about his price. Probably just testing the water see if there's anybody out there that has more money than they know what to do with and can't live without this table.
I'd be very surprised if it sold @ that price on ebay. Top prices seem to come from the big auction houses - once in a while ebay will surprise you, but there's a lot of bargain hunters on ebay.
