Hi all, I am a new member who has been troubling over an ebonized parlor table. I found it a few years ago in an antique shop in Kentucky in near pieces. All the parts were there and thankfully not broken, including the pink marble top, but the legs were twisted a bit from what I assume were years of stress from the weight of the marble and a lack of proper attachment to one another (all the glue was like dust, thank goodness for friction keeping the table together).

I waxed and reglued it and it is standing strong. The original finish looks great save a few expected rubs and scuffs. Even the castors are working well.

I recently found a photo of the Rockefeller Smoking room in the Brooklyn Museum and was surprised to see a table matching mine in the photo (see image, look carefully, way in the back under the hanging cabinet - I will try to post another image of mine when I get a chance (no digital camera for me) It can also be seen in the book "In Pursuit of Beauty", page 138.) I contacted Barry Harwood at the Brooklyn Museum, who feels the room was decorated by Pottier & Stymus, but that this table was purchased either by the decorators, or by the family.

Does anyone know anything about who may have made the table ? value? history? I am a huge fan of 1870's ebonized furnishings and after resurrecting it, this little table means alot to me.
