can anyone identify the maker of this furniture??? Thanks Darryl
additional pictures.
Karpen or S. Karpen & Brothers of Chicago would be my first guess- it has that heavy look of Karpen furniture. Though there were others that did the same style furniture. R.J. Horner would be my next guess. But I am only guessing.
Here's a link to a site for questions about Karpen Furniture or help in identifying it: www.skarpenfurniture.com/pages/events It is run by Emily C. Rose - a granddaughter to Sam Karpen, one of the 9 Karpen Brothers. There is a message board that will answer questions about Karpen Furniture (does not offer values/ appraisals though). One thing I learned reading the Q & A is that all Karpen Bros. Furniture was labeled w/ a tag, the tag is very useful in dating the piece. If it does not have the tags (or even tag tack holes - unless filled in), it is not Karpen. All Karpen pieces had tags.

Thanks Woodright
I can't find any tack holes or tags on the set.(It could be that there are holes, but my eyes are not what they used to be)
I'm not too concerned about value except for Insurance reasons. My mother bought this set about twenty years ago, and she left it to me when she passed away. I will check out the Karpen sight.
I welcome any speculation on this set as I am clueless about this furniture.
again thanks
