Good idea. I know the group has got to have a good sampling of beds out there. I have two that are Victorian era and the bedrooms are my next phase of upgrades so hopefully there will be good purchases in future.
I had this image convenient for the Bancroft bed. The other bed I have is a smallish walnut full-size with composite female head on the headboard.

I have this bed in my home that I feel is of particular interest. The bed has a historical context as it was from a well documented period in the life of F. Scott Fitzgerald (author of "The Great Gatsby" among other literary works) when he stayed in the Oak Grove Hotel in a small North Carolina town in order to be near his wife Zelda who had a history of mental illness and was committed to a hospital in Asheville. I currently have this bed listed for sale on my website although my discussion of it here is not for monetary purposes, so please ignore that if you wish. The bed is in mint condition now although I had to do a fair amount of restoration to bring it up to its current condition

Those are some of the tallest finials I've seen on a bed on the middle bed of Antiquemiser. I like the footboard a lot, not quite as crazy about the headboard design/ details, but I do like them big ol' finials. woodwright
This is a little off subject - but not entirely. Here is a Victorian style half tester bed & armoire I designed and built about 5 years ago (his armoire pictured - hers not pictured. It just catches the left edge of hers on the RS of the picture). The suite is walnut w/ bookmatched & buttmatched walnut burl panels and mahogany panel moulding. The center 2 panels in the headboard slide open to reveal a phone, and light switches for the bed & room. If I had the chance to make it today I'd fancy it up a little, but there is almost always a budgetary constraint. It was made for a very serious collector that wanted a king sized Victorian style bed - antique king sized beds are pretty much non existant. People were smaller back then, had different standards & husband and wives in the Victorian era generally had separate bedrooms, so the need for huge beds didn't exist. woodwright
The headboard has two replacement panels from another bed on each side of the circular middle panel. Also missing the headboard center final. Wonderful work on that suite! Nice to see someone still can make quality furniture in the time of particle board. I've had extra siderails made for two of my beds to extend them to long full and queen.
Here are 8 great Victorian beds to drool over. Some you may have seen - but probably not all. I don't own any of them, sure wish I did though. All from the net. woodwright
This is probably one of the most recognizable beds (and armoire) in movie history. Here's a hint: "mother" always gave commands from her bedroom to her son running the motel down the hill.
PS-I wouldn't take a shower in THAT motel....LOL

wasn't there a great bed in Gloria Swanson's Sunset Boulevard movie? I seem to recall one...
