Can you help date this bed?

We are attempting to find an approximate date for this Victorian Era bed, specifically we are trying to learn if it was pre- or post-1861.
There are no markings with the exception of the numbers "784" and "785" stamped on several elements. It is walnut.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, either in dating it, its style, and/or any other historical information.

Do you have a larger, more detailed photo? If not, separate pictures of the headboard and footboard carvings will help confirm.

Your bed is a Renaissance Revival style, specifically Neo-Grec which is a sub-type of RR.
I am guessing by the flat-top that someone had removed your top crest at some point in it's life.
It appears to be American and would date in the 1870s. Since the first appearance of Neo-Grec was at the 1862 London Exhibition by the French, that clearly puts it after the pre-1861 period you were wondering about.

If there ever was a crest there - there would be 2 dowel holes that it fit into (possibly screw holes - but most all are doweled on). woodwright
